Flying Costs

Joy Rides

Come and experience the joy of a flip in a microlight or a light sport plane!

We offer in microlights: (flips can be done in 2 or 3 planes at the same time)

  • Short 15 minuite flips around the Cato ridge area. R300

  • Half hour flights over the Tala game ranch. R450

  • One hour flights over the Valley of 1000 Hills. R750

In Light sport planes: (flips can be done in 2 or 3 planes at the same time)

  • Short 15 minuite flips around the Cato ridge area. R400

  • 30 min flights over the Tala game ranch. R550

  • 1 hour flights to the north or south coasts. R950

  • 1.5 hour flights to the Dragensburg and Sani Pass. R1400

  • 3 hour flights down to the Wild Coast. R3000

Costs of a Course

Microlight and Fixed wing Recreational Pilots Licence courses and costs

Light sport and microlight flying is the most cost effective form of power flying. Should you wish to upgrade to a Private Pilots Licence (PPL), your licence in the light sport category will credit you with approximately 35 hours towards your PPL.

At Light Flight, the emphasis is on training safe pilots. The objective is not just to get you a pilot's licence in the shortest possible time but to make you a safe and competent pilot in controlled and uncontrolled airspace. Depending on your age a fixed wing and weight-shift licence should take in the region of 25-35 hours of flying.

School aircraft are available for all or part of the training and fees vary accordingly.

Course prices for weightshift and 3-Axis training are available on request.

Ground School

Six lectures at R100 plus on line exam registration at a cost of R200

covering:

1) Principles of Flight,

2) Meteorology,

3) Navigation,

4) Air law,

5) Engines and Airframes,

6) Human Performance Limitations.

The following need to be completed for the issue of a licence:

  • The radio licence course must be done with Sakkie at the PMB Aeroclub at a cost of approximatly R550. Contact him on 0798906324

  • A flight medical needs to be undertaken by the student and can be done by any approved aviation medical doctor at a cost of approximatly R600. Under the age of 40 years a class 4 medical and over the age of 40 a class 2 medical is required.

  • A student pilot licence form needs to be completed with 2x passport size photographs, a copy of ID and medical certificate. This will cost R340 excluding postage.
